5 signs your body is asking for a massage

Why our bodies whisper before they shout — and how massage helps us listen.


I've said it before and I'll say it until I die...massage isnt JUST for pampering and relaxation. There are so many benefits, and the signs your body needs one can vary from person to person, but here are the top 5 things your body may be whispering to you!



  • Constant tension or soreness that doesn’t ease on its own

    • Feeling like you're just ALWAYS in pain or discomfort, thats not normal, and can be eased with consistent, regularly scheduled massage therapy. I know that the majority of Americans are getting through their days with regular doses of over the counter pain medications, but it doesn't have to be that way! Massage is well known for helping relieve even chronic pain. its not a quick and easy one time fix, but relief is available!


  • Headaches or jaw pain from clenching/stress

    • Headaches are definitely a symptom of a body out of balance, it can be stress/tension related, as well as a symptom of something out of balance elsewhere in the body...the discomforts you experience in your body often don't start where the pain shows up! There are 26 muscles attached to your head and neck doing hard work, so something minor can really get things out of whack as they say, and cause pain and tension cycles! Another great reason to get massage, I sort of pride myself on my neck work, as a fellow headache sufferer, i know what it feels like and I know how great relief can feel!


  • Poor sleep or restless nights

    • This one isnt as obvious, but is still a sign your body wants some attention. Restlessness can be a little glimpse into what is brewing deeper in your body, and should definitely be addressed! Besides throwing your nervous system off kilter a bit, it will also have a bit of a trickle down effect, tension in your body from sleeping poorly adds up over time. You are tired one day from a bad night sleep, you probably slouch through your day because of the fatigue, drink too much caffiene...I get it, been there done that and probably have the tee shirt! massage is a great reset when you're in a pattern of bad sleep. Have you ever felt that 1-2 hour delay, post massage and suddenly you could REALLY use a good nap? Let's get you sleepy!!


  • Feeling “run down” or easily stressed

    • Are you tired ALL the time, or just lose your temper without much cause? This is another one of those whispers that doesn't seem like it could be helped with massage, since its not presenting as a "bodily ache" but as a sign your nervous system needs some attention!

      this follows the same logic, in my opinion, as the sleepless nights. Everything in our body is well designed by our mighty creator, and works great, when we treat it great!


  • Reduced mobility or stiffness

    • Reduced mobility is a bigger red flag, and you may need a little bit more frequent of visits until these issues are resolved more easily. The old saying motion is lotion is true for all ages. If we don't move, we can't move, then our bodies lock up! Schedule that 90 minute session and lets really get to the root of your tension, and help get things in the whole body moving again. Honestly I think most of us can benefit from 2 90 minute sessions a month no matter what our body is telling us. I am obviosuly passionate about bodywork!
