Embracing Holistic Living

Welcome to my humble corner of the internet. Today, I want to share with you my personal journey towards holistic living as a Christian woman. My Faith is not something I have ever talked about online, mostly because it is fairly new. However, I feel like it is important to start sharing because that’s what Christ wants from us!

Holistic living is an approach that encompasses every aspect of our lives, integrating our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. It is my belief that God calls us to care for our bodies, minds, and souls with the utmost reverence. So, let's embark on this path together, exploring where to start and how to make it sustainable for our families.

1. Where to Start: Switching to Non-Toxic Household Products

One essential step towards holistic living is to eliminate toxic household products from our lives. From cleaning supplies to personal care items, many conventional products contain harmful chemicals that can negatively impact our health. As stewards of God's creation, it is our responsibility to care for our bodies and the environment He has blessed us with. I love utilizing an app called “Healthy Living” by EWG(theEnvironmental Working Group) on my phone when I am looking for new products to add to my home, and my business.

Begin by examining the labels of your household products. Look for ingredients like phthalates, parabens, and synthetic fragrances. These chemicals can disrupt hormones, irritate the skin, and even contribute to long-term health issues. Replace them with natural alternatives, such as essential oils, vinegar, baking soda, and plant-based cleansers. Not only are these options healthier, but they also promote a more sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle.

2. Switching to Organic Foods: Nourishing Body and Soul

This was one of the first things I was able to start for my own family. The food we consume plays a vital role in our overall well-being. By choosing organic foods, we prioritize nourishing our bodies with wholesome, pesticide-free options. As Christians, we understand that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). Therefore, it is essential to make conscious choices that honor this gift from God.

Start by incorporating more organic fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your family's diet. Start by looking at the Dirty Dozen, Clean 15 List! Visit local farmers' markets or consider joining a community-supported agriculture (CSA) program. Engaging with local farmers not only ensures the freshness and quality of the food you consume but also supports sustainable farming practices.

3. Finding Healthcare Providers Who Support Holistic Lifestyles

When it comes to our healthcare, it is crucial to find practitioners who understand and support our holistic approach to well-being. As Christians, we recognize that God is the ultimate healer, and healthcare professionals should work in harmony with His divine plan for our lives.

Seek out healthcare providers who share your values and are open to alternative or complementary therapies. Consider integrating practices like acupuncture, chiropractic care, naturopathy, or functional medicine into your family's healthcare routine. Engaging in open conversations with your healthcare team will help ensure that you receive comprehensive care that aligns with your holistic lifestyle.

4. Sustainability for Your Family: Cultivating a Holistic Lifestyle

Holistic living is not merely a temporary trend but a lifelong journey. To make it sustainable for your family, and not a stressful addition to your lives, consider these key principles:

a) Education and Awareness: Continually educate yourself about the benefits of holistic living and share your knowledge with your loved ones. Involve your family in discussions about healthy choices and why they matter.

b) Mindful Living: Encourage mindfulness and self-care practices within your family's daily routine. Teach your children to appreciate the beauty of nature, practice gratitude, and engage in activities that promote mental and emotional well-being.

c) Faith as a Guiding Light: Seek guidance from your Christian faith as you navigate the path of holistic living. Pray for wisdom, discernment, and the strength to make choices that honor God's design for your family's well-being.

Dear friends, holistic living as a Christian woman has transformed my life even more, because I know this is the best path, bringing me closer to God's intentions for my well-being. By switching to non-toxic household products, embracing organic foods, and finding supportive healthcare providers, we honor our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit. May this journey inspire you to embark on your own path towards holistic living, guided by faith and an unwavering commitment to God's divine plan. Together, let us cultivate a lifestyle that nourishes our bodies, minds, and souls.
